FAQ's - 6th Grade Registration

 

Core Classes for all 6th Graders

  • English (ELA) 6
  • Science 6/Social Studies 6
  • Math (Accelerated students in math will be placed by district guidelines)

(The 2024-2025 Schedule may differ slightly.)

  • Period 1: Science or Social Studies 
  • Period 2: Extended Learning Opportunity 
  • Period 3: Drama or Art 
  • Period 4: Math 
  • Lunch (followed by recess) 
  • Period 4: Math (continued) 
  • Period 5: English 
  • Period 6: Advisory

 

Extended Learning Opportunities:

  • We have a dedicated Intervention/ Enrichment period during the school day. This time allows us to provide targeted support to students in need of skill-building in reading and math. 
  • This time also offers enrichment opportunities for students who are already proficient in these areas, enhancing their knowledge in Science, Math, Health, Social Studies, and Personal Finance. 

All students who are NOT taking band or orchestra will take our “wheel” of electives.

  • PE 
  • Design & Tech
  • Art 
  • Choir 
  • Theater Foundations
  • Explorations in Spanish (unless you already speak Spanish) 
  • Family and Consumer Science Explorations 

Choosing Electives:

  • You will enter your elective selections in the Google Form with your 5th grade teacher. 
  • If you are not taking band or orchestra, please rank ALL of the electives your choice of preference (1-7).​
  • Music Students – You will turn in your orange music form to your teacher, along with entering your Google form. If you are taking band or orchestra, we will do our best to schedule you in to your top four priority electives.
  • Band 6 (meets every other day, all year) 
  • Orchestra 6 (meets every other day, all year) 

Important Dates:

  • Parent Information Meeting: FEBRUARY 1, 5-6PM, BOLTZ COMMONS
  • Instrument Demo Night: MARCH 28, 6-7:30 PM, BOLTZ COMMONS
  • Fifth Grade Visits: MAY 10, 9:30-11:30 AM
  • 6th Grade Transition: WEB AUGUST 14, 7:50AM
  • Camp Timberline TBD
