Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Poudre School District is thrilled to share some exciting news about the continued growth of our middle school athletics program. Beginning this spring, PSD will be adding girls middle school soccer, followed by boys middle school soccer in the fall. These offerings represent our latest commitment to fostering a strong sense of belonging and expanding opportunities for students to pursue their passions in an educational setting.
Athletics play a powerful role in helping students connect, grow, and thrive, both on and off the field. The addition of middle school soccer reflects PSD’s dedication to meeting student interests and creating meaningful experiences that support physical, social, and emotional development.
As with any new opportunity, growth can also bring change. In some cases, the introduction of soccer may impact participation numbers in other sports at individual schools. If a particular sport does not have enough interest to be offered at a student’s home middle school, we want families to know that students will still have opportunities to participate.
In these situations, students will have two options:
- Tryout/Participate at the partner middle school within their feeder system, or
- Tryout/Participate at a designated middle school within the district that is seeking additional participation
A similar approach is already common practice at the high school level for sports that do not have teams at every school. Our goal is to ensure that no student is prevented from competing simply because of participation numbers at their home building.
When these circumstances arise, the building Athletic Director will work closely with the District Athletic Office to support families and place students in programs that align with district policy and, student interests. We are committed to helping students find a place to play.
Once again, we are incredibly excited about the addition of middle school soccer and the continued evolution of PSD athletics. Thank you for your ongoing support, flexibility, and partnership as we work together to create opportunity-rich experiences for our student-athletes.
Sincerely,
Brandon Carlucci
District Athletic Director
Boltz Middle School Athletics
Where we inspire students to be a great person, a great student and then a great athlete!
The fees for athletics are $150 and must be paid before the first official practice. Fees can be paid online on School Pay, parents need to register their students on the district's Sports Engine site, and students also must have a current physical on file at school before they will be allowed to participate.
Please read and complete all PSD paperwork so that your child can participate on the first day of practice/tryouts:
- If your child does NOT attend Boltz, please follow this PSD Placement Guideline link: PSD Placement Guidelines
- ONLINE FORMAT: Online sports registration for any sport at Boltz. This process will also allow you to pay online.
- Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch must have a new fee waiver on file each year in order to have fees waived. We can assist parents with this process during check-in. It is a two-step process with applying for free/reduced lunch first, then applying for additional fees to be waived (on the Parent View “fees” tab).
RESOURCES FOR SCHOOL SPORTS PHYSICALS:
A PSD Sports Physical must be filled out by a physician before a student can participate in a PSD sport. Sports physicals expire one year from “date of exam” not the date the doctor signed (if these dates are different). Please keep a copy of your students’ sports physical and turn in a copy to the Boltz Athletic secretary. You may need this physical for high school (if not expired) and/or other activities outside of school.
