Born and raised in central Indiana, I completed my undergraduate degree and teaching licensure through Indiana University. I bring eight years of high school teaching experience from California, Illinois, and Windsor High School into my classroom and fourteen years of teaching middle school in PSD. My children attended and graduated from PSD K-12 schools. My husband and I moved to Fort Collins over 25 years ago, and enjoy many community activities: hiking, camping, live music, and bike trails. I spend my free time with our two awesome dogs, reading in my backyard, and traveling. My favorite book I've read this year is James by Percival Everett.

Reading and writing curriculum in PSD middle schools in the Units of Study by Lucy Calkins from Columbia University. This curriculum has filled my classroom library with a variety of excellent young adult book choices. I match student interests with books all year long. My goal is to increase the volume and complexity of each student. Our writing units intertwine with what we read. Students practice narrative, argument, and literary essay writing, leveling up every year at Boltz.
