Please plan to join us tonight from 6 to 8 pm for Boltz Back to School Night. This year we will use an “Open House” format, meaning that teachers will be in their classrooms for parents to drop in to visit them. We will have a map of our building available for parents and ask that you bring your student’s schedule. As a reminder, schedules are available in ParentVue. Back-to-school-night is intended for parents only.
Individual reports for student performance on CMAS will be given to students to take home today during our 5th period. These scores are also available on ParentVue when you navigate to the menu on the left side of the screen labeled PSD DOCUMENTS.
Attention 6th Grade Parents:
Our Camp Timberline trip for 6th graders is coming up soon. This is a great experience that our 6th graders build on across the school year. We will have our organizational and paperwork meeting for this during our Back to School Night tonight. Our back to school night is from 6pm to 8pm, but the Camp T meeting is at 7pm in our main gym. Information regarding logistics, activities, medical paperwork and releases will be shared. It is important that a parent or guardian of every 6th grader can attend. Because of this, between 6:50pm and 7:45pm our 6th grade teachers will not be in their classrooms, but rather in the gym for the meeting. If you have any questions, please call the main office at Boltz (472-3700). We look forward to seeing you there.
Secure Front Entrance
We have been operating our front entrance to Boltz via the doorbell and intercom system for the past 2 weeks and think that it’s been a pretty smooth process. Thank you for your patience while to get used to having our front door always locked. We would like to speed up the process. When we come on the intercom and say, “Welcome to Boltz, how can I help you?” please respond with your name, the reason for your visit and your students name.
Subbing in PSD
If you, or someone you know, is interested in subbing as a Licensed or Classified substitute in PSD please see the attached flyer for more information.
Next week we will participate in 2 separate emergency preparedness drills. On Wednesday, September 12th we will conduct one of 2 mandatory fire evacuation drills this semester. On Friday, September 14th, we will do a lockdown drill. In a lockdown we secure all interior doors, move students within the classroom to the most sheltered space, and turn out the lights. This is designed to help us practice for the possibility of an active threat in our building. Our newly secured front entrance also supports overall safety in our school. If you have any questions or concerns about our drills next week, please contact Boltz and we’ll direct your questions accordingly.
NJHS will have its first official meeting for the school year next week. We will meet in the IMC at 7 AM on Friday, September 14th. At that meeting, we will talk about our meetings for the rest of first semester, service hour requirements this year, Give Next Advisory Council opportunities, and more. If you are in NJHS and know you will miss that 9/14 meeting, make sure to touch base with the staff sponsor, Mrs. Kirstan Morris, to learn more. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org .
Join Boltz PTO
Our first Boltz PTO meeting of the year will be Tuesday, September 11 at 6:30pm in the Boltz library. The more parents we have involved, the more effective our PTO will be. It is a great way to stay informed about what is going on at Boltz and how you can help support our students and teachers. Hope to see you there!
