Boltz Updates and Reminders for 10/5/17
We will be holding this year’s major fundraiser on Friday October 13th. This is a health focused fundraiser. This is an amazing event because…
Walk A Thon fundraiser sends a healthy message and is a cultural pillar for Boltz every year.
100% of funds will directly benefit Boltz Middle School!
ALL students and staff are involved!
We are offering amazing prizes such as Fitbit Alta’s (activity tracker), Z-Flex longboard, $75 REI gift card and other fitness related prizes.
But we need your support! With funding being reduced at all school levels this is our opportunity to go the extra mile in providing amazing opportunities for students here at Boltz. We will be able to use the funds for stand-up desks, flexible seating in classrooms, activity bags for every advisory and many more possibilities that we know will have a positive effect on students’ happiness, not to mention instructional impacts. We humbly ask for your support to allow us to go the extra mile for your children. More information to come in the next couple weeks.
Walk-a-thon Volunteer Opportunities
Please help make our Boltz Walk a thon a success! We need parent volunteers to help prepare for the event by counting/tracking donations and sorting t-shirts. Please sign up here:
We also need parent volunteers on October 13 to pass out bands as students finish laps and help encourage them to keep moving. Please sign up here:
Parent Teacher Conferences
Our fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up in two weeks on Tuesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 19th from 3pm to 7pm at Boltz Middle School. These conferences are led by your students and designed for them to share their learning with you. Our staff is present to help your student and to answer any questions you may have. This is a great opportunity for students to grow in their understanding of their own learning.
Conferences are by reservation only. We will not be able to accommodate families without a reservation. Please use our web-based, signup system PTCFast. The link is below.
Please note that our time slots are arranged by grade level. If you have multiple students at Boltz you will need to sign up for slots for each student separately. If you have any questions or concerns with this process, please contact the Boltz office at 472-3700. Signups will be cut off the morning of the scheduled conference day.
From the PTO
The Boltz PTO would like to coordinate parent donations for dinners for our Boltz teachers on October 17th and 19th during Parent/Teacher Conferences. We are asking for monetary donations and our PTO teacher appreciation committee will then use those donations to purchase dinner for our teachers. If you would like to participate, please sign up and bring the donation to the Boltz office.
Boltz Spirit Gear
Families can order Boltz Spirit Gear from now until the 22nd of October. Click this link and enter the Sale Code BOLTZ2017.
DROP OFF/PICK UP SAFETY
This is a reminder that when you are dropping your child off in the morning and/or picking them up at the end of the day, to follow the guidelines below. These guidelines are in place for the safety of our students and staff.
- DROP OFF/PICK UP LANE - This is the lane closest to the school (right lane). Use this lane for drop off and pick up only. Please pull up all the way to the end of the sidewalk to allow as many cars to park behind you. This allows many children to be dropped off and picked up and is THE safest way to drop off and pick up. This lane is intended for a quick drop off and pick up and should not be used to park and wait for your child. Please use parking spaces if you need to come into the building or are waiting for your child.
- THRU LANE - This lane is the lane to the left of the DROP OFF/PICK UP LANE - This lane CANNOT be used to drop off or pick up students. This is a safety hazard for your child. Please use this lane only to drive through to the exit of the parking lot or to park in the parking lot so that your child can get out of the car safely.
- CROSSWALK - This crosswalk is marked with big, white lines and is used by students who walk, bike to school or whose parents drop off on Boltz Drive.
Stop at the crosswalk and look both ways before you drive through it. Students and parents are using this crosswalk to come in and out of the building and it can be dangerous for pedestrians if you drive through it without looking both ways. Please do not park on the crosswalk
Student Technology Issues
We have had many issues of late with the school-issued laptops having inconsistent internet connectivity while they are used away from Boltz. The district has been working with the vendor of our filtering system to resolve the issues. Many students have had difficulty completing online work during this time. Our staff is working with these students to ensure their grades are not harmed due to technology issues. As a reminder, when your student is looking to use a school-issued laptop on an outside network, have them log into the filtered portal at http://cb.psdschools.org/mobile_login/login.htm This will allow them to use their device on any other wireless network. As always, students can stop by our media center for assistance with their technology needs.
