Integrated Services Multi-categorical

At Boltz, we have adopted the co-teaching model because we believe that inclusion is best for all students. This means that students of all different learning abilities are in general education classes together receiving support and services. Using this model, students of all learning abilities learn together in the general education classroom and have two teachers instructing the students. This allows for a variety of teaching methods and strategies to be used, differential grouping with students, and allows students to learn alongside same aged peers. Students with disabilities now get to learn with their peers and receive the necessary support within their general education classes. 

Botlz MS tightly integrates students with degrees of Autism as well as involving the general student body in Project Unify.

Autism Program:

While the nature of the students we serve is very complex, our mission is clear: To teach communication skills, social competence, and personal independence to assure the fullest access to learning and life. We provide a highly supportive and structured teaching environment essential to address delays in communication and social interaction, and thereby unlock the child’s potential. We provide every student with an ordered, safe, and positive learning environment that expands verbal and non-verbal abilities, inter- and intra-relational skills, and the executive or self-control and decision-making abilities foundational to all learning. Strategies using applied behavior analysis (ABA) are proven effective in systematically teaching socially important targeted behaviors and are the foundation for many of the approaches we use.

Project Unify:

Special Olympics Project UNIFY® is an education-based program that activates youth to promote school communities where all young people are agents of change – fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with and without disabilities.

Boltz: The magic of Project UNIFY is manifested in the inclusive friendships formed as youth with and without intellectual disabilities work together as leaders to create caring and respectful communities. Youth become core leaders in their school communities using class projects and fun as the catalyst for fostering positive school climates.
